Developer CV (last updated 2021)

Web

I am currently working as a tech lead at Geeks for Social Change and setting up Cookiewolf, a cooperative providing tech solutions for artists, activists and non-profits.

Between 2008 and 2021 I developed websites and apps with Neontribe.

I follow a lean and agile process: iterating rapidly, working closely with the users of the product to develop the things they need most, in the best order.

I am usually a php and js programmer working on Linux with mysql and frameworks like Laravel. On the frontend, I React when I have to and Elm when I can. I'll try anything code related - but am defeated by visual design. I am an advocate of accessibility, inclusion, open source and open data.

In my spare time:

  • I run Code Reading Clubs codereading.club.
  • Sit on the program committee for Lambda Days
  • Organise Elm Camp
  • Work towards equity in the tech industry through advocacy and sharing knowledge
  • and occassionally... ferment random fruits and vegetables

Some recent projects

Films

Between films I work freelance helping projects get off the ground by producing preliminary budgets and schedules for scripts seeking funding - and ones that are ready to go. I used to live in Norfolk and worked a lot with Capriol Films. In summer 2022, I worked as local Production Management for a documentary pilot for Disney. I am casually aiming to get something feature-like off the ground in the UK South West.
